All looms are hand made of solid woods. They are hand sanded and finished with Tung Oil for a low gloss finish. All screws are brass and countersunk to the level of the wood.
The "A Leg" Table Loom is designed for use on a table top, floor, or supported in ones lap. The free swinging "leg" allows for set up on either a table top or the leg can be swung out onto the floor and the looms working surface placed in your lap. For those of us who can't sit cross legged on the floor anymore! The leg folds flat with the looms working area for easy transport.
The back of the loom is set up to allow it to be used as a warping board. Pegs are provided and spacing is on one inch incriments.
All dowels needed for using the loom are provided and are oak unless otherwise noted. A batten of oak will be provided for an additional $10.00.
Dimensions can be custom made for sizes up to 36" tall. The width can be whatever you like. Woods available are Oak, Poplar, and Select White Pine. Other woods might be available on request. Pricing for custom sizes and woods will depend on local wood pricing.
How the A-Leg Loom Works
Using the back of the loom to warp on. Notice the leg supported on the floor and the working area resting on the chair. Pegs for the holes are provided with the loom.
Attaching the warp to the dowels. Here my legs are through the leg and the working surface is supported on one of my other looms to get the angle that I needed.
Here I am working with the weaving area supported in my lap and the leg resting on the floor. This works well for smaller pieces or the bottem half of a larger piece.
Weaving with the loom set on a table works well as long as the loom is set on a rug, or in this case a cloth tablecloth, to keep the leg and the working area from sliding.
